I threw away the original box a while ago, so what would be the best way to package the monitor so that it survives the move?
The fan on my 4890 has been making wierd buzzing noises on/off for some time now,at least 4 months,It seems to only do it though when the fans rps slows down and the fans spinning around 50% speed,If i raise the speed of the fan the noise goes but im thinking that the fan will eventualy fail?
i have contacted XFX about it and told them,They said that if i send it out to them they will have a look at it for me…. But do XFX still make the 4890 series? for replacement? or would they just replace the fan?
Also what im concerned about is….like i said it does not do it all the time,it just randomly starts buzzing and what im worried about is that when it arrives at XFX and they test it,If it does not make a noise them they might just send it back to me and say theres nithing wrong with it!
What you guys think?
EDIT:Anyone know why my card idles at 500Mhz?….iirc it used to idle at 250Mhz on the older drivers!
When any intensive part of a game (ex. L4D2) like shooting an oozie 1 or 2 lines across the screen show while its flashing. I’m assuming this is a video card issues. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Including Nvidia 4xx, 3xx series, and ATi 5xxx series.
With all these numbers they slap on, it gets confusing. One thing has a higher number, but lower down the line than something in the previous series…
i have a really really slow pc because of a mix of it being out of date and being filled with files so have decided to upgrade to some newer bits and pieces
my current specs are
amd athlon 64 x2
core processer 5200+ ??
2.61ghz
2gb ram
nvidia 8400gs
i am a complete newby to upgrading and dont want to really spend more than £200 on an upgrade. i however would like to play the latest games (mw2,dirt 2,bfbc2,gta iv) at high/full settings @ 1680*1050 res!!
cheers!
can anybody help me solve this?
Is there a better way to do this from this laptop? Or do I have to just live with it?
I ended up getting it to 985mhz on the core clock and 1115mhz on the memory clock and it passed the stability test in overdrive. As you would, you would go for the 1000mhz milestone. When I ran the test, the screen didn’t come up the normal weird colour shit that is normally does, but just switched off. No signal was coming from the video card (well, the analog/digital message came up on my monitor as it does when it cannot find a signal).
I restarted, loaded back into windows, checked everest and GPUz and they both say my clocks are reset back to their default (900mhz/975mhz). When I try to load CCC though, the screen will flicker once and then it will just go black and come up the no signal thing and I’m left to restart the computer.
So, if when the 1000mhz core clock test failed CCC reset it back to default clocks, why is CCC still buggering up when I try to run it?
The main reason I don’t want to buy a new card is because I am only running games @ 1280×720 (Max is 1366×768, 18.5in monitor).
I’m thinking I probably won’t need to upgrade.
The only thing im worried about is my card being a little outdated…
Your opinions?
I’m currently in the process of building a PC Media Centre (win7×64) And I’m having a problem trying to find a Decent graphics card to suit. I’ve read and read and read, But without any clear answer. So I though I would put the question out there, to get your thoughts/ideas.
The card needs to have HDMI out including HDMI sound, budget $150
I had previously purchase and test a graphics card Gainward NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT Graphics Card 1024MB,DDR3,256bit, PCI-E VGA/DVI-I/HDMI. Which just ended in a refund.:mad:
Spec’s
Case – ThermalTake DH101
Mother board – Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3
CPU – 8200 Quad Core 2.66
Memory – 4GB
Power Supply – Cooler Master 550w
Tv Card – Dvico Fusion HDTV DVB-T Dual Express
Logictech – Music anywhere (for surround sound set-up)
WiFi – NetGear WN311B
Blueray
Plasma – Panasonic 60"
But currently considering purchasing a ATI Radeon HD5750 1GB 1024MB 128Bit DDR5 HD 5750..BUT LIKE THE GAINWARD model above, this card is built by HIS and I’m not sure of this brands reputation….???? and it maybe overkill..????
Thank you
I’m looking to upgrade and buy a new monitor and I’d like your advice.
My PC is a Dell Dimension 9100 with an nVidia GeForce 6800 256MB PCI Express x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-Out) graphics card.
I use my PC primarily for internet browsing, MSFT office, video games, email, and viewing video clips (like youtube). I do not watch feature-length movies on my PC and have no intention to (I have a nice TV for that).
I’m thinking of spending a little extra and getting an IPS monitor instead of a TN (better viewing angles, picture quality). I’m leaning towards the Dell Ultrasharp 2209WA 22" 1680×1050 IPS monitor for ~$319 but sometimes goes on sale. Seems like a reasonable value. Any thoughts on how this monitor would do with my PC and applications? Any other recommendations?
Since I don’t watch feature length movies on my PC monitor, I don’t see any reason why I would need a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor. Am I missing anything?
I also considered the HP ZR24W 24" 1920×1280 IPS monitor, but it’s more expensive ($400) and the review scores aren’t quite as high as the Dell, even though it’s larger and higher resolution.
Thanks for your help,

I just bought a brand new Leadtek nVidia GeForce GTS250 1GB Graphics card and I need to find out if it will work on my computer:
Acer Veriton 7900 Pro
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86 GHz
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
HDD Size: 80 GB
Processor Type: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed 1.86 GHz
Installed RAM: 512 MB
Hard Drive Capacity: 80 GB
If it won’t work on this desktop, and you have any suggestions of computers with graphics cards like this, I’d appreciate it greatly.:)
Thanks:)
its been working really well after a year , and now it sais that my tv has no signal to my computer , i have tryed to buy a new HDMI DVI cable but still sais the same thing , now im afraid to spend more money on a new grafic card and find out that its my tv that is broken behind ,
is there anyone who has any suggestions on how I ka get it to work?
I’m not sure how long it has been out, but when pricing up a cheap system, and getting sidetracked, I found:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/4Gb-A…use-Metal-Case
http://uk.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=bGf2f0s2zeWhT0w8
The first thing I thought was heat, which the cooler seems pretty able to handle, however the whole heat of 1 chip is staying within the system, which can’t be good for internal temps.
Then the thought of when is 4GB video memory actually needed? I understand that they can support 3x 2560×1600 monitors, but does that really need 4GB video memory, and could it even drive that many pixels in the first place? Maybe a few in crossfire :P
I just noticed the power connectors too, 1×6 pin PCIe and 2×8 pin PCIe
If I need software, which I think seems to be the case, are there any problems with it? Does it cause any slowdowns when running games that don’t happen to use PhysX, for example?
(All this time I just assumed I was using PhysX whenever I played a game that supported it!)
